What photo does the official Morocco eVisa portal ask for?
The portal asks for a recent photo that conforms with the standards of ICAO, the International Civil Aviation Organization, which sets the international rules for photos in passports and other travel documents. The photo must be a JPEG or JPG file of no more than 1 MB. The portal gives no print size, no age limit in months and no background colour.
How do the portal's rules compare with applying through evis.ma?
The photo is one of up to three files the portal asks for. When you apply through evis.ma, you send the same files without the portal's format and size rules, and we prepare them for the portal:
| Requirement | Official Morocco eVisa portal | Applying through evis.ma |
|---|---|---|
| Photo | A recent photo that meets ICAO standards | Any recent, clear photo of your face; a phone photo or a selfie is fine |
| Photo file formats | JPEG, JPG | JPG, JPEG, PNG, HEIC, WEBP |
| Passport | The page with your identity data and the passport's validity, as PDF, JPEG or JPG | A clear photo or scan of the same page, as JPG, PNG, HEIC, WEBP or PDF |
| Residence permit, only if your passport needs a supporting document | Both sides, as PDF, JPEG or JPG | Both sides, as JPG, PNG, HEIC, WEBP or PDF |
| Maximum size per file | 1 MB | 20 MB |
| Adjusting files to the ICAO format and the 1 MB limit | You do it before uploading | We do it before filing your application |

What photo should I send to evis.ma?
Any recent photo in which your face is clear. You do not need to resize, crop or convert it: HEIC, the iPhone photo format, is accepted too. Every traveller, including a child, needs their own photo.
The portal's file rules are strict. Of the 900 photos customers uploaded to evis.ma between February and October 2026, 305, about 1 in 3, did not meet them as uploaded: 213 were JPEG files larger than 1 MB, and 92 were PNG, HEIC, PDF or other files. The portal would not have accepted them as they were, so we prepared each one before filing.
Do I need a 35 × 45 mm passport photo for the Morocco eVisa?
No. You apply for the eVisa online and upload the photo as a digital file, and the portal states no print size. The 35 × 45 mm size quoted on many websites comes from photo-printing services, not from the eVisa portal. You do not need a printed photo.
How do I take a good photo with my phone?
These tips are not rules. They make the photo easier to adjust:
- Look straight at the camera, with your whole face visible from the top of your head to your chin.
- Face a window or another even light, so there are no strong shadows on your face.
- Stand in front of a plain, light wall if you have one.
- Turn off filters, beauty mode and portrait effects.
- Take a new photo rather than using an old one, so it looks like you today.
What should the passport and residence permit uploads show?
For the passport, the portal asks for the page with your identity data and the passport's validity. Send a clear photo or scan of that page with all four corners visible and every line readable, including the two lines of letters and numbers at the bottom. The portal's 1 MB limit applies to this file too, and we prepare it for you in the same way.
If your nationality needs a supporting document, the portal asks for both sides of the residence permit. Which permits and visas count is explained in qualifying documents for the Morocco eVisa.
What happens if my photo cannot be used?
We check every photo before we file your application. If a photo cannot be adjusted, for example because part of the face is hidden or the image is too blurred, we ask you for a new one before anything is submitted.
What is the next step?
Whether you need the eVisa at all depends on your passport: check it in the Morocco visa requirements by nationality. How the application works, step by step, is in the Morocco eVisa guide, and the overall rules are in the Morocco visa policy.
