Quick Answer

Ghanaian citizens need an authorization before they travel to Morocco, but not the eVisa and not a visa from an embassy: they travel with the Electronic Travel Authorization (AEVM). It needs an ordinary passport and a National ID, and it allows a single entry and a stay of up to 90 days. As of October 2026, evis.ma has obtained 38 AEVMs for its customers, and none of the applications we filed has been refused.

Price with evis.ma: USD 70 for the AEVM, everything included.

Ghana: the AEVM, not the eVisa

Morocco gives four nationalities their own online route: Ghana, Guinea, Ecuador and the Republic of the Congo travel with the Electronic Travel Authorization (AEVM), also called the Morocco ETA. The Morocco eVisa is not open to a Ghanaian passport, and you do not need to visit an embassy either. The AEVM is a one-page document issued by the Moroccan authorities and sent as a PDF. It is valid for a single entry, allows a stay of up to 90 days from the date of entry, and carries its own “valid until” date.

What you need: an ordinary passport and a National ID

Two documents decide whether a Ghanaian application can go ahead. The first is an ordinary passport. The second is your National ID: you enter its number in the form and upload a copy as proof of residence. Without a National ID the AEVM cannot be filed, and a passport alone is not enough.

A visa or residence permit from another country is not required. A Schengen, US or UK visa in your passport does not change the route: as a Ghanaian citizen you still travel with the AEVM. The AEVM guide lists the other documents to prepare: a passport scan, a photo, your last 3 months’ bank statement and a hotel reservation.

How Ghanaian travellers apply through evis.ma

You start on our ordinary application form, like any other traveller: for Ghanaian citizens the price is 70 USD, everything included. Right after the payment you receive the link to your AEVM form, with the details you already gave us filled in; you complete it, and we obtain the AEVM from the Moroccan authorities and send it to you. Processing takes 1–3 business days, and there is no urgent AEVM service, so leave time before your flight.

Each traveller needs an AEVM in their own name, children included: there is no family or group authorization.

At the border, and if the AEVM is refused

The AEVM lets you travel; Moroccan border control makes the final decision on entry and can ask for supporting documents, so carry the ones you used for your application. If an AEVM is refused, the route is a visa from the Moroccan embassy in Accra.
