Afghan eligibility runs through a residence permit held abroad

An Afghan passport does not open the eVisa on its own. For Afghans the deciding document is almost always a residence permit issued where they now live, so in practice the eVisa route follows the diaspora.

In practice the route runs through Europe. Germany hosts the largest Afghan community on the continent, so for many Afghan applicants the qualifying document is a German residence permit rather than a visa obtained from home.

Which documents make you eligible

Eligibility rests on a second document you already hold. Morocco accepts two kinds, and they are not interchangeable — one is a visa, the other a residence permit:

An accepted multiple-entry sticker visa. A valid multiple-entry visa issued by the Schengen Area, the United States, the United Kingdom, Canada, Australia, New Zealand, Japan or Ireland. It must remain valid for at least 90 days from your arrival in Morocco. A single-entry visa does not qualify.

An accepted residence permit. A valid residence permit issued by any European Union country, the United States, the United Kingdom, Canada, Australia, New Zealand, Japan, Norway, Switzerland or the United Arab Emirates. It must remain valid for at least 180 days from your arrival.

The document must be genuine, currently valid and in your own name. Because these conditions decide the whole trip, confirm yours with the eligibility check before you rely on it.

Where Afghan applicants usually qualify

Afghan passport holders who live abroad — in the European Union, the United States, the United Kingdom, Canada or Australia — generally qualify through the residence permit issued to them there. A multiple-entry visa from one of the accepted countries qualifies in the same way. An Afghan applicant holding neither a qualifying residence permit nor an accepted visa is not eligible for the eVisa.

If you hold none of these documents

Then the eVisa is not available, and Morocco is entered on a consular visa obtained from the Moroccan mission responsible for Afghanistan.
