Morocco Visa for Bangladeshi Citizens: Are You Eligible?

A Bangladeshi passport will not carry the eVisa on its own; a second document decides the matter. For the very large Bangladeshi workforce in the Gulf, one rule settles most applications.

The connection is older than either modern state: the 14th-century Moroccan traveller Ibn Battuta recorded North African merchants living in Bengal, and Morocco was among the countries that recognised independent Bangladesh, in 1973.

Which documents make you eligible

Eligibility rests on a second document you already hold. Morocco accepts two kinds, and they are not interchangeable — one is a visa, the other a residence permit:

An accepted multiple-entry sticker visa. A valid multiple-entry visa issued by the Schengen Area, the United States, the United Kingdom, Canada, Australia, New Zealand, Japan or Ireland. It must remain valid for at least 90 days from your arrival in Morocco. A single-entry visa does not qualify.

An accepted residence permit. A valid residence permit issued by any European Union country, the United States, the United Kingdom, Canada, Australia, New Zealand, Japan, Norway, Switzerland or the United Arab Emirates. It must remain valid for at least 180 days from your arrival.

The document must be genuine, currently valid and in your own name. Because these conditions decide the whole trip, confirm yours with the eligibility check before you rely on it.

What this means for Bangladeshis in the Gulf

Bangladesh's largest expatriate populations are in the Gulf, and here one point is decisive: among the Gulf states, only a United Arab Emirates residence permit is accepted. A residence permit from Saudi Arabia, Qatar, Kuwait or Oman does not qualify, however long you have held it. Bangladeshis living in the UK or the EU qualify through their permit, and a multiple-entry Schengen, UK or US visa qualifies for anyone who holds one.

If you hold none of these documents

Then you are not eligible for the eVisa and would apply for a consular visa at the Moroccan mission responsible for Bangladesh.
