For Egyptians in the Gulf, one permit decides eligibility

An Egyptian passport is not sufficient on its own. Egypt has one of the world's largest Gulf workforces, and there the eVisa turns on a single distinction most applicants do not anticipate.

Cairo holds a piece of Moroccan history. Abd el-Krim, who led the Rif War against colonial rule, lived out his exile in Egypt and died there in 1963, having refused to return home while foreign troops remained — Nasser's Cairo, not Rabat, was the base of North Africa's liberation movements.

Which documents make you eligible

Eligibility rests on a second document you already hold. Morocco accepts two kinds, and they are not interchangeable — one is a visa, the other a residence permit:

An accepted multiple-entry sticker visa. A valid multiple-entry visa issued by the Schengen Area, the United States, the United Kingdom, Canada, Australia, New Zealand, Japan or Ireland. It must remain valid for at least 90 days from your arrival in Morocco. A single-entry visa does not qualify.

An accepted residence permit. A valid residence permit issued by any European Union country, the United States, the United Kingdom, Canada, Australia, New Zealand, Japan, Norway, Switzerland or the United Arab Emirates. It must remain valid for at least 180 days from your arrival.

The document must be genuine, currently valid and in your own name. Because these conditions decide the whole trip, confirm yours with the eligibility check before you rely on it.

What this means for Egyptians in the Gulf and beyond

Egypt has one of the largest expatriate populations in the Gulf, and here the distinction is decisive: only a United Arab Emirates residence permit is accepted — a Saudi, Kuwaiti or Qatari permit is not. Egyptians resident in the EU or the United States qualify through their permit, and a multiple-entry Schengen or US visa, common among business travellers, qualifies as well.

If you hold none of these documents

Then the eVisa is not available, and you would apply for a consular visa at the Moroccan mission responsible for Egypt.
