Morocco Visa for Mauritian Citizens: Are You Eligible?

A well-travelled Mauritian passport still needs a second document

A Mauritian passport does not qualify by itself, despite its broad visa-free access. Morocco asks for a specific document — an accepted visa or residence permit — and for Mauritians that usually means British or French papers.

The link rests on finance more than history: Mauritius, Africa's main offshore hub, signed a double-taxation treaty with Morocco in 2015, positioning Port Louis as a channel for investment into the Moroccan economy.

Which documents make you eligible

Eligibility rests on a second document you already hold. Morocco accepts two kinds, and they are not interchangeable — one is a visa, the other a residence permit:

An accepted multiple-entry sticker visa. A valid multiple-entry visa issued by the Schengen Area, the United States, the United Kingdom, Canada, Australia, New Zealand, Japan or Ireland. It must remain valid for at least 90 days from your arrival in Morocco. A single-entry visa does not qualify.

An accepted residence permit. A valid residence permit issued by any European Union country, the United States, the United Kingdom, Canada, Australia, New Zealand, Japan, Norway, Switzerland or the United Arab Emirates. It must remain valid for at least 180 days from your arrival.

The document must be genuine, currently valid and in your own name. Because these conditions decide the whole trip, confirm yours with the eligibility check before you rely on it.

Where Mauritian applicants usually qualify

Mauritius has long-standing links with the United Kingdom and France, and much of the Mauritian community abroad lives in one or the other. A British or French residence permit — the French one being an EU permit — is therefore the most common qualifying document, alongside a multiple-entry Schengen, UK or US visa. A Mauritian passport with none of these does not qualify, despite its broad visa-free access to other destinations.

If you hold none of these documents

Then the eVisa is not available, and you would apply for a consular visa at the Moroccan mission responsible for Mauritius.
